LogSpark Gift Vendors

Sandry has been writing scripts for vendors almost as long as she’s been in SL and certainly as long as the LogSpark Ladies have had stores. It started off with a modified script to make the freely available vendors load faster and progressed through a “holo-rezzing” vendor system and set of single-prim vendors and ultimately a series of Gift Vendors.

The current LogSpark Vendors are known in-house as Generation 5 and none of them require more than one prim. They are quick and easy to set up and configure and include features that you normally only see in the big name stores. But, they’re priced such that a new business in SL could afford to purchase them. Why a Gift Vendor?

As shoppers many of us like to buy copyable items because it allows us to keep a back up when we modify jewellery or hair and it allows us to keep copies of favourite items in our favourite outfit folders.

Of course, sometimes we’d like to be able to buy an item that we can give as a gift to a friend or a loved one.

As sellers we’re obviously not going to make things that are both copyable AND transferable, that’d be asking for trouble. So a LogSpark Gift Vendor might be the perfect solution. Shoppers may pay the vendor and receive the item themselves or they can touch the vendor, choose “Send As Gift” and have the item sent to their loved one, their best friend or even to their alt.

Inexpensive - both in prims AND price!

This simple, elegant solution operates entirely within one prim and may be configured to send you IMs or emails when it makes a sale. (If your store is very busy you can tell the vendor not to send you any sales notifications at all. Full, easy to understand instructions are included.

The features offered make this vendor equally suitable for installation in a big name store or in a new business. The modest price tag belies the hours of work (and years of evolution in our own stores) that have gone into the scripts and make it affordable for any store owner. How does it work?

Whilst browsing the Gift Vendor, the names and prices of the items are conveyed to the customer in Instant Message. This comes out in the Local Chat History, but is only heard by the customer that touches the forward and back buttons. This means that the customer is given clear information about the product that they’re looking at but without disturbing any one else and without having floating text which is so often visible through the wall and inside the next store.

If the customer pays the vendor, the vendor will deliver the item that they were looking at to them, just like a normal vendor.

When the customer spots something that  they would like to purchase for someone else, they click on the Gift Button. The Gift Vendor switches into Gift Mode and prompts them to say the name of the person to whom they wish send the gift.  The Gift Vendor then looks up the intended recipient to make sure that it will be able to deliver the item to them and the  customer is prompted to pay for the item. Once payment has been made the Gift Vendor thanks the customer and sends the item to the chosen recipient, along with a message to say what it sent and the name of the store that it came from.

Which Version Do I Need?

Single Price
This means that EVERY item in the vendor will be the SAME price. It makes it very quick and easy to set up the Vendor, but obviously, it’s not as flexible.

Multi Price
This means that you can have a DIFFERENT price for EACH item. It takes a little more effort to set up, but it’s very flexible. The prices are set in a Notecard which has a line for each item with the item name and the item price.

Single Item Gift Vendor Script
If you have a store where you can display a separate box for each of your products, the Single Item Gift Vendor Script is ideal. You set the price in the description field for the box and drop this script inside. It automatically detects the item that you are selling and if you have an accompanying Notecard or a demo version of the product, it can detect that too.

DEMO VERSIONS
